Hank Friedrichs continues to be an avid supporter of athletic and academic youth programs.
One of Hank’s interests is the PREP Hockey Club which combines hockey teams representing three northwest suburban High School District 214 schools: Prospect, Rolling Meadows, and Elk Grove. PREP fields teams at Varsity and Junior Varsity levels and plays in the North Central Division of the Illinois High School Hockey League.

The Hoffman Estates Triphahn Ice Arena, located at 1685 West Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates, is a premier regional ice facility. This state-of-the-art arena offers two NHL sized sheets of ice, which are used for freestyle, figure and hockey skaters, as well as serving as the practice facility for the Chicago Wolves.
Mount Prospect Ice Arena, located 1501 Feehanville Drive in Mount Prospect, is a newly renovated state of the art sports facility ideally suited for major tournaments and special events. The 71,000 square foot arena sits on 8 acres of land with available parking for over 300 guests. The facility includes two full NHL size sheets of ice, one of which has been designed to accommodate ADA accessible activities and sled hockey.
The Nelson Sports Complex, located at 3900 Owl Drive in Rolling Meadows, offers a variety of recreation opportunities. There is an ice skating rink, Olympic-size swimming pool, fitness center and gymnastics center.
West Meadows Ice Arena, located at 3939 Winnetka Avenue in Rolling Meadows The West Meadows Ice Arena is a multi-purpose arena and features ice for hockey, figure skating and open skating. The arena was home to the Chicago Hitmen a Jr. A ice hockey organization fielding teams in the Tier II Jr A North American Hockey League as well as the Tier III Jr A North American 3 Hockey League until they later moved to the Fox Valley Ice Arena. The arena was also home to the Chicago Blaze of the All American Hockey League before the team folded on December 11, 2009.
